Jack's Dol Chan Chi

..which translates to Jack's first birthday celebration. It was so fun. We had tons of friends come to join us in a huge Korean bar-b-q. Cliff's mom helped which made it even yummier. Jack looked so cute in his honbook. And he was happy to let me put it on him. I think that both the girls cried when i tried to put them in thier dresses. Jack, on the other hand, seemed to love it (or maybe the attention that everyone was giving him). In Korea, at the dol chan chi, the child gets to choose his lifes path. 4 items are placed out. Books represent education, noodles represent long life, money represents wealth, and oranges represent an abundant life. Haley and Bella(and every other korean kid that i know) chose oranges. We tried to tempt Jack with a hundred dollar bill. Maybe we should have crumbled it up to resemble a ball, because like every other 1 year old, he went right for the pretty round oranges. Yeah Jack!! An abundant life for you it is.

I had to post this picture to show everyone how much alike my son and I look. Can't you tell he's mine? ha ha ha - he's 100% Cliff.

Grandpa's Boots

Grandpa came to visit this weekend for Jack's big party. After the 5 hour drive (it should only take 4) he sat down on the grass and took off his favorite shoes. I think that Jack was amazed at these huge things. He had to try them on. Somewhere I have a picture of bella wearing them too.

First Taste

Just had to add some photos of Jack's first taste of birthday cake (any cake). We've held off till now. Mostly because he seems to be allergic to everything under the sun, milk especially. So this frosting is made with Canola spread, powdered sugar, and soy milk. Yum - Actually it was pretty good and he only got 3 little hives from it. He wasn't overly excited about the whole thing either. Didn't dig in like most kids. And, after watching us eat the same thing with spoons, he had to have one too. It took him about 5 minutes to get a piece of cake on the spoon using his right hand to pick it up and place it on the spoon which was in his left hand. Then he ate that bite and was pretty much done.

Someday....

...I'll have a real headboard. But for now this will do. My sister-in-law (thanks Laurie) gave me the idea, which she got from a friend, and I had to try it. I even found wreaths that matched my bedroom colors exactly. I loved how it turned out. What do you think?

Happy 1st Birthday Jack!

Isn't He Cute!! I can't believe a whole year has already gone by. Jack has been so fun. After 2 little girls, we are so glad to have this beautiful little boy filling our home with, well, boyness. He likes to bang on things, pick up any stick or anything that resembles a stick, eat anything, play with balls, pick up bugs (as seen in previous posts), but most of all he's best at "giving loves". I'm sad to see him growing so fast, but so excited to see what he has to offer the future. Happy Birthday Jack!

1st Grade!

School finally started. Haley has been waiting all summer to start 1st grade and it's finally here. It's a little bitter-sweet for me. She had 1/2 day kindergarten last year and didn't start till noon. So ofcourse the mornings are bitter. She has also been such a humungous help with Jack in the mornings and all day long. I'm not sure how my days will go without her here. However, I'm excited for her to be back in school with her friends and not so bored. She loves learning. She says that math is her favorite subject and she hopes that she gets to do "real" math in 1st grade. Not the pretend, picture math that they did in kindergarten.

dragonfly

Today Haley found a dragonfly on our living room window. Jack HAD to get the thing and he was so funny with it. The wiggly-er it got, the less he wanted anything to do with it. But the girls both wanted their pictures taken with it. Ofcourse, as soon as the picture was taken I had to "get it off, get it off".

Jack had had it with the dragonfly when it crawled up to kiss him on the cheek. Too close for comfort I guess.

3 Little Animals

Haley goes back to school on wednesday so we decided do one more small family trip to end the summer. I know we don't live far from Boise, but the girls think that a trip to any hotel(with a pool) is a great vacation. So, that's what we did. We went to the Zoo, went out to dinner, and went shopping(my part of the vacation).

little red fence

The red fence with the wildflowers behind it was too pretty to resist trying to get some good photos in front of. well, i tried. It's a good thing that i have cute kids.

fishing with dad

We all went for a quick fishing trip to the park down the street. Jack did not want to let go of the fishing pole. I guess it's in his blood.

My Baby's First

My Baby is turning 1 next week! I can't believe it! We tried on his little Korean outfit today. It was a little big, but he looked soo cute. I had to take a few pictures, so here's a preview of the big day. Look for more next week....

Camping with Dad

Cliff took the girls camping and this is what Bella looked like when she got home. I was laughing so hard when i saw her. She was obviously ticked but i had to get a picture. They drove the land cruiser(which is currently without a/c) and had a 3 hour drive home in the heat. Not so fun for them, but it made for a funny photo.

Bella Wella

This is my Bella. How many kids do you know that try to roller-skate, ride a bike and fly a broom all at the same time. She's sooo silly you just can't help but smile. We love her to pieces!

Pretty in Pink

We've had a little trouble finding more than 1 of any of Bella's shoes, except for her pink cowgirl boots. So pink cowgirl boots it is. She wears them to ride her bike. She wears them to the pool. She even has had to wear them to Church!! I guess that there are some fights not worth fighting as mom. They do fit her silly little personality though.

Like Father Like Son

Everyone tells me that Jack looks JUST like his daddy. So here you go. What do you think? Do you see any similarities? I just think that they're both pretty dang cute.

Sprinkle, Sprinkle little Star

Jack loves the water. Yesterday Cliff turned on the sprinkler really low and let Jack go free. He had so much fun trying to "catch" the water. He'd run through, let the water take his breath away, take a deep breath and run through again. We all had a good giggle watching him.

Andrew's Family Reunion "06

We had a family reunion a couple of weeks ago and everyone was there. This was supposed to be a picture of all of the cousins, but the closer I look, I notice that someone is missing. Corey, where the heck are you? I wish everyone lived a little closer so that we could play more often.

Sun Valley

Here's some pic's of my kids taken in Sun Valley over the 4th of July weekend. We had such a good time. My kids would love it if we just moved into a hotel for the rest of our lives. I don't like sharing a room with my kids, but i sure wouldn't mind a maid.
Here's a classic of the Girls and Jack. This is what he goes through all day. I thought the novelty of a new baby brother would wear off after a couple of months, but he's gonna be 1 in a couple of weeks and the smothering continues. I think deep down he loves it(and so do i)
Okay - so i'm just trying this out. I wanted to be able to post comments to a friends blog and i guess this is how i can do it. So.....
